Hi everybody! It’s Sid Bardfield here with the latest news for Metairie Music Academy. Exciting news on the horizon! We are going to have another recital/performance in December. Waiting on confirmation. I’m shooting for Saturday, December 10. Same venue, Lakeview Christian Center.
Plenty of time to get a song or two ready to perform. What’s great is you’re performing in front of friends and family. It takes a bit of courage but once you do it you’ll get a surge of confidence. If you’re not ready for that step then just come and hang out. It’s will run about 90 minutes or so. I promise you’ll be amazed and have some fun.
I’m seeing great progress in all the students and some who performed last recital are significantly better. Really excited about seeing their performances. Don’t forget, how we practice is how we perform. Playing songs, strumming, fingerpicking doesn’t take 2 hours a day of practice. Now if you’re wanting be a lead guitarist it will some commitment depending on how good you want to get.
Some of the virtuoso rock guitarists had the guitar in their hands 8-10 hours a day. Players like Eddie Van Halen would be playing while he was talking on the phone. Can you imagine, some of those callers got a free private concert from Eddie. Just do 15 to 20 or 30 minutes a day of intentional, effective practice. Break it down to 5 min segments.
Let’s start making a plan. I can’t wait to see each and every one of you perform. Looks like we’ll have some students play with the band for the first time too. It’s going to be an awesome time!
