1. Warm-Ups That Are Fun and Safe

At Metairie Music Academy we are mindful of differences in age groups from very young five or six years old, teens or adults when teaching how to sing.

Each group requires different exercises and teaching methods. For the young ones we want to make it fun and not throw a bunch of notes at them that will frustrate them. We want them to enjoy the process. And voice training is a process and takes time. 

Some kids are just natural singers. Even if they aren’t a “natural” singer doesn’t matter. I’ve seen some kids practice and get better than the “natural” singers. 

We’ll do some great vocal exercises and your child will learn how to breath properly for singing. It also will make them healthier and gets more oxygen to the brain. 

2. Your Child Will Learn to Sing Their Favorite Songs 

So we’ve done some breathing work and warm up vocal exercises. Now its time to start singing their favorite songs.

We take your child’s love of music very seriously. We want to find out what their favorite music is. Disney, or Pop songs or Worship songs or whatever they like to sing. Or maybe they make up their own songs. 

Even in beginner voice lessons we want to stoke their love of what they want to sing. And this is where you can help us. Let us know what they’re singing in the house or singing in the car. This is the part that makes vocal lessons fun for them!

3. We Build Confidence in Your Child One Note at a Time

Singing lessons done in the right way is about helping your child learn to express themselves. This positive self expression is what leads to self confidence.

At Metairie Music Academy we want each and every child to feel proud of their music ability. To learn that actually and get better all the time as they practice.

This actually can lead to learning how to organize, focus and discipline in a fun way that teaches them life skills. If not what do we all see as parents. They jump on some type of device with a lighted screen.

And we do 2 Recitals a year at no cost to you. This is where your child can shine in a great family event. Singing can teach your child to speak out with confidence and not shy away from all the things that will be getting thrown at them.
