Hi everybody! It’s Sid Bardfield here with the latest news for Metairie Music Academy. I want to share what music lessons can do to improve academic skills, social skills, motor skills, memory skills and more.
There are numerous studies proving that music lessons increase IQ which will improve academic skills. Listening skills are greatly improved during music lessons as the teacher explains what to do and the student then has to follow instructions. Learning an instrument demands focus and concentration.
With an encouraging, nurturing music teacher a student can learn social skills
being polite and a positive attitude. During recitals and group lessons students learn how to interact and be supportive of one another.
Music lessons are a committment to pursue music week to week which develops determination, discipline and perseverance. Learning how music works and understanding music is great for developing memory skills.
Students develop a fine sense of motor skills with their instrument which builds confidence in playing. Learning timing and when to play the notes can develop patience and learning to pay attention.
And most of all music is fun. Playing songs you love and playing for friends, family and your community is fulfilling. In today’s fast paced world so many kids are lured into the instant gratification of games and multimedia. I’ve personally experienced the transforming power of music in my life and see every day in students!
