I started singing when I was 10. I would record myself and heard my voice was good. But if you asked me to sing in front of anyone outside of my family I would shut down.
This is why Metairie Music Academy was created. To help as many kids as possible learn to enjoy and express their voice. Singing expresses who we are.
I have seen and experienced over and over again a shy, timid kid just like I was come in and after training, weeks later, standing tall and singing loud and proud.
1. Voice Lessons Equals Better Public Speaking
Many kids are shy. Our kids need a safe shelter to learn how to sing. Not only the skills of singing but to have fun. To express their personality with their voices.
Learning everything from how to project their voice, to sing clear with confidence and feeling. To stand tall and learn to be comfortable performing. These vocal skills will carry over to every part of their lives for the rest of their lives. It will especially help with speaking in public.
2. Singing is a cure for shyness
When a child really gets in touch with the sound of their voice and sings out. The self consciousness leaves. It’s also about having a teacher who builds them up, encourages and pushes them on to success.
There is so much bullying and the addiction of media devices that children are shutting down thinking and creativity. Many of personalities are shut down. Singing lessons are the outlet they need to relate to something powerful and real.
3. Social Confidence will come through their Vocal Lessons
Singing opens up doors for kids. They can sing in their school choir, sing in theatre events like plays, sing on a child’s worship team.
They will meet and we will teach them how to interact socially at these events. It’s really to be friendly and respectful which are qualities that are getting harder to find these days.
Later in my adult professional life all these singing and social skills is what allow me to rise above and get noticed. To have fun while doing it and to support others around me. Even when being featured I never thought it’s all about me. I learned in bands what I call the team effort. Your child will learn that too.
