I believe guitar lessons with the right guitar teacher can make a really big difference in your child being calmer and more relaxed. Everyone’s lives are moving at a faster rate and there’s stresses for all of us if we don’t take steps to chill out.Even very young kids have a lot of pressure on them. As parents I want to create outlets for mental, phyiscal and spiritual growth for my child.
Guitar can make a difference
In addition to my regular kids and adult clients I teach a few special needs kids. What I see is certain guitar skills or music activities I’ve developed will help them go from hyper to calm in a few short minutes. It’s just a matter of where is their focus and concentration. Many kids need the discipline of how to practice to get better, repetition of learning a musical instrument. We’re being pulled into multitasking activities all day long. In addition to practicing guitar, I believe we “practice” life and whatever we repeat enough gets to be a regular daily habit. The skill of being able to focus is becoming a lost art.
The Art of Creating
Yes, there is a learning curve to getting good on guitar. Once you can play several songs, play some solos and understand how music works it becomes a creative outlet for the expression of yourself no differnet than watching a child express themselves through dance. We all carry a lot of emotions each day depending on what’s going on but to be able to pick up a guitar, crank it up a bit and play your favorite songs is a positive, freeing outlet for expression of your feelings. It’s creates a healthy, constructive way to deal with negative feelings.
A Sense of Accomplishment
Working at an instrument, getting good will make you feel good about yourself. You will feel a confidence that will carry over to all other areas of life. There’s book written about many Fortune 500 CEO’s who attribute the success of their lives and career to their training in music.
Conclusion
Whether it’s guitar lessons, piano lessons or voice lessons, your child should be having fun and learning music skills. They should be better musicians and people after coming out of their lesson than when they went into their lesson.
